Gira Sol is to be a world-changing ecovillage in a dry land climate. As the city of TiJuana prepares to sprawl into the Valley of the Palms, Gira Sol prepares for the inevitable by asserting a different reality to welcome the expansion.Our first efforts begin this October with a ten day workshop. These ten days will have a very strong base in village design theory and practice, and we will develop design concepts for the future development of the whole Gira Sol site. This work and play will include both social and ecological systems for sustainability.

Beginning with the repair and expansion of an existing adobe structure into a organizing center, we will begin to build Gira Sol as a reflection of learning processes and localized relationships. In this first set of workshops we will build out the adobe with practical new passive and active systems for heating, cooling, water catchment, energy systems, and much more that will be beautiful.
